Unit description

Introduces students to the cruise industry and the cruise ship as a floating integrated resort. Students focus on the interconnectedness of the various commercial activities, cultural dimensions, and staff and guest relations within the complex regulatory and operating environment of the cruise ship industry.

Learning outcomes

identify and analyse the unique characteristics of the cruise industry and their impact on the environment, the tourism industry, staff and their careers, and the guest experience

demonstrate the capability to conceive, plan and propose an initiative to improve environmental, guest and staff outcomes on a cruise ship

demonstrate the knowledge and skills to reflect upon the challenges of developing and maintaining a sustainable and profitable cruise industry.
