Unit description

Students are required to spend 200 hours in a welfare organisational setting under the supervision of an experienced field educator who assists the student to integrate theory with practice by creating a suitable learning environment.

Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
1develop and maintain professional and ethical relationships with clients, colleagues and supervisors
2apply research theory and skills to practice, assessing need and/or risk, and mapping the network of services within the social and community services sector appropriate to organisation
3participate in team processes and understand decision making frameworks and evaluation processes in the human services context
4demonstrate an understanding of practice guidelines and ethics, and personal reflection in the human services context.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
