Video transcript: Cara Bartlett

My name is Cara Bartlett and I am an Insolvency Accountant at SV Partners in Brisbane.

My main role as the accountant on each of my files and my responsibility is looking after them on a day-to-day basis.

I started at SV Partners in Brisbane in August 2011.

I enjoy the industry because it is different on a day-to-day basis. No files' ever the same. As part of my job here at SV Partners

I started undertaking the Chartered Accounting program which is for the Postgraduate studies. As part of that program we are required to go these focus session groups. I was able to start up new networks and contacts, which enabled me to bring in a new client for the company.

I studied the Bachelor of Business, double major in Accounting and Finance at the beachside campus. This is the new Gold Coast campus. I studied it in two and a half years, so fast-tracking my degree.

I guess my highlights of Uni would be making new friends and being chosen to be a Student Ambassador for the University. But overall the Graduation. It was definitely the highest achievement of my life so far.

My advice I would give to high school students thinking of going to university would be to research your options, find out what courses are available and what would best suit your needs before enrolling.

As well as technical skills University helped build time management and efficiency in the work place. If I didn't do my degree I wouldn't be where I am today.

I'm Cara Bartlet and this is my story.
