Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

discuss contemporary theories related to innovation and design

critically analyse the factors which influence the diffusion of innovations

develop, produce and document an innovative and creative solution to meet a specific need or opportunity

demonstrate innovation and creativity in design and problem solving skills

apply principles of market research and processes in marketing

apply sustainable processes, techniques and methods used in manufacturing and production for a design solution

demonstrate principles of environmental sustainability and iterative evaluations throughout the development of a designed solution.
