This unit contains professional experience learning/ laboratory activities that require students to meet mandatory compliance requirements prior to attending. This requirement has been stipulated by the placement providers. It is strongly recommended that only students who meet this requirement enrol in this unit.
Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
critically apply evidenced-informed midwifery care to a woman experiencing complexity within her childbearing episode including care for the fetus/neonate
apply clinical reasoning and decision-making skills to obstetric emergencies
design an evidence-based midwifery resource with a focus on complex conditions for the woman or baby
demonstrate and apply safe and competent midwifery practice to a woman experiencing complexity within her childbearing episode including care for the fetus/neonate
demonstrate competency in numeracy including complex medication calculations.
