Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

discuss the evidence for the role of nutrition, exercise, stress and other lifestyle factors in health and disease

identify a range of clinical interventions for the promotion of healthy lifestyle behaviours and the current evidence supporting these interventions

apply Australian guidelines (e.g. food guide references, physical activity – public health guidelines) and other public health initiatives to clinical practice

explore the principles and strategies for encouraging client/patient compliance with evidence-based lifestyle health promotion interventions
