Learning outcomes
Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.
On completion of this unit, students should be able to:
analyse the role of the casual teacher in schools through reference to statutory regulations, industry guidelines, government data and professional literature related to casual teaching
appraise and compare the various casual teaching options available including the ‘casual by choice’ career in Early Childhood, Primary and Secondary settings
formulate strategies for securing casual teaching in a range of settings and plan for ongoing professional development and accreditation
develop strategies to build professional resilience
link classroom management knowledge to specific needs of the casual teaching role
create a portfolio of practical resources in preparation for casual teaching in varied settings
