Learning outcomes

Unit Learning Outcomes express learning achievement in terms of what a student should know, understand and be able to do on completion of a unit. These outcomes are aligned with the graduate attributes. The unit learning outcomes and graduate attributes are also the basis of evaluating prior learning.

On completion of this unit, students should be able to:

explain the functional and aesthetic aspect of design in the textile area

apply the elements and principles of design across a range of textile applications

describe and demonstrate a range of decorative techniques including dyeing, printing & appliqué

outline the work of contemporary designers

demonstrate competence in graphically communicating design and the documentation of the design process used in the textile discipline

design, manufacture and evaluate textile items featuring surface decoration and based on different sources of inspiration

produce a range of appropriate resources for use in the teaching of the design section of Years 7-10 and Stage 6 Textiles and Design syllabi.
