We are closed due to COVID-19 (Novel Coronavirus) 

The Deck & Lounge is closed until further notice. The University has taken the decision that the most appropriate course of action to ensure the health and safety of everyone is to close the facility.


The Deck & Lounge is (usually) open for everyone, you don’t need to be a student or staff member to enjoy our space. If you are a visitor to the University please be prepared to sign in as a guest at our events. We look forward to seeing you when we are open again.

Q: I’m an artist, can I play at The Deck & Lounge?

A: Email thedeckandlounge@scu.edu.au with a short bio, link to your work and gig pricing.


Q: I’m not over 18 years of age – can I come to gigs?

A: Yes but you must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for your whereabouts at ALL TIMES.

Absolutely no alcohol is to be consumed by anyone under the age of 18 years.

Please note that some events are strictly 18+, please contact us to confirm before the event or check event posters.


Q: Are events seated or standing?

A: There is plenty of seating out on the deck, however the bar is mostly standing.


Q: Do I have to be a student to go there?

A: No, but on big nights you will need to sign in your details as a guest of the venue.


Q: Can I bring my friend who isn’t a student?

A: Yes, but you may have to sign in your friend and be responsible for them and their actions in the venue.


Q: How loud are shows? Shows vary in volume?

A: We suggest you purchase earplugs prior to arrival and ALWAYS exercise caution.


Q: Can I mosh or crowd surf?

A: No. It is not fun to be kicked in the face while watching your favourite band.


Q: Can I bring in my own alcohol?

A: No. The Unibar is strictly a No BYO alcohol and illegal drugs venue. Do not bring any of these items here. If you are caught, the police will be called.


Q: Where is The Deck & Lounge?

A: The Unibar is located off Military Road in Lismore, as you enter there is a car park on the right with the entrance across from the gate house.

Park as close to the Gym at the end of the car park and follow the path past the gym.

We are down a side street at the back of the gym.


Q: Is there Parking?

A: Lots and lots of parking.


Q: Can I buy food at The Deck & Lounge?

A: Yes, Monday to Friday from 9am we offer a limited menu, our full lunch menu is available from 11.30am – 2.00pm.

We are open Wednesday nights for Open Mic where you can buy $2 tacos.

On the occasional Thursday or Friday night we hosts events and you can buy something simple to snack on like pies and sausage rolls.


Q: Can I smoke?

A: The Unibar is a non-smoking venue, however there is a small designated smoking area on the verandah.


Q: Do we have an ATM?

A: Yes, there is an ATM within 30m of the front door located at The Summerland Credit Union.


Q: Does The Unibar have wheelchair access?

A: Yes, we are completely wheelchair accessible.
