Jerry is Director of the Forest Research Centre, and Head of the School of Environment, Science and Engineering. Before joining SCU, he was Principal Scientist with the Center for International Forestry Research, and Professor of Tropical Forestry at the Royal Veterinary and Agricultural University in Copenhagen, Denmark. Jerry received a higher doctorate (D.Sc.For.) from the University of Queensland in 1992, received the Queen's Award for Forestry in 1997, and the IUFRO Scientific Achievement Award in 2010. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of NSW.

Jerry leads a team of researchers dealing with forest management and teaches the undergraduate unit FOR00109 Forest Modelling and Management.

Jerry has written over 350 publications, with more than 150 in refereed journals. His most recent book is Forest Growth and Yield Modeling. He also co-authored Realizing Community Futures, a guide to the use of participatory modelling for better environmental outcomes. Recent research includes mixed species plantings, competition indices, and participatory modelling.

School of Environment, Science and Engineering Professor

Bill is the Professor of Geography at Southern Cross University, the Chair of his University?s Human Research Ethics and Animal Care & Ethics Committees, and the University's Student Ombud.

He a geographer, archaeologist and landscape scientist, with research and teaching interests in environmental change, human-landscape interactions, environmental and cultural heritage management, and higher education. He draws on both the geosciences and the humanities to inform his research and teaching. His current focus is on the management of environmental and cultural heritage places and landscapes, and community engagement in environmental management. As an education researcher, he uses reflective narrative methods to examine pedagogy, curriculum and teaching & learning practice. He has published extensively in all these areas, and has co-authored several books.

Bill holds doctorates from the Universities of Glasgow and St Andrews, is a Life Fellow of Clare Hall, University of Cambridge, and a Visiting Professor at the Australian Studies Centre, University of Barcelona.

Malcolm Clark Associate Professor 02 6620 3149
School of Environment, Science and Engineering Associate Professor My research and teaching expertise are in low temperature environmental and engineering geochemistry. For the past 16 years my research has mostly focused on the neutralisation geochemistry and utilisation of bauxite refinery residues (red muds). This work has led to several successful ARC-Linkage grants, which have included methods for developing porous pellets of modified bauxite refinery residues (MBRR), use of the MBRR's in concretes, and shotcretes, and treatment grouts. Despite the focus on red mud, other research interests and expertise, include but are not limited to, trace-metal geochemistry in reduced environments (including mangroves), clay mineralogy and surface chemistries, acid mine drainage and its impacts, sulfide oxidation processes, and Msssbauer studies of iron minerals.
