World Environment Day Festival 2026

This year’s UN theme is all about climate resilience.
Celebrate the planet and the dedication of environmental groups from across the region with a day of climate action and community connection at the Murwillumbah Showgrounds.

Whats happening?

​Powered by the SCU Sunflower Solar Trailer, our stage and grounds will be buzzing with activity:
  • ​Inspiring Talks: Q&A with climate scientist Joëlle Gergis and activist Mandy Nolan.
  • ​Community Wisdom: A panel on climate resilience with leaders from the Regenerative Northern Rivers movement. SEED Northern Rivers, Plan C, Imagine Northern Rivers & Jagun Alliance
  • Live Music: High-energy performances by Bluesfest standout Jerome Williams and acoustic storytelling with Uncle Garry Kafoa.
  • Hands-On Skills: Learn earthbag building techniques, natural fibre weaving by Kyra Togo and Kylie Caldwell, and engage in fire stick demonstrations with Jagun Alliance.
