Employers looking to improve the health and wellbeing of their staff are being encouraged to join a new scheme developed by Southern Cross University's Natural Medicine Clinic.
The Healthy Workers Scheme is a unique program designed to help employers reduce sick leave and increase productivity by promoting healthy lifestyles for their staff.
Head of the Natural Medicine Clinic Mr Paul Orrock said staff at the clinic would be providing 'wellness' vouchers to employers in the Lismore region to distribute to their staff.
The vouchers will entitle the staff to attend the Clinic for a free two-hour health check, including diet and lifestyle assessment and a thorough non-invasive physical examination.
"Our clinicians will then develop a tailored treatment plan to help achieve optimal health and wellbeing," Mr Orrock said.
"With the growing incidence of obesity, diabetes and other lifestyle diseases in Australia it is more important than ever that people take the time to look at their own health.
"We are hoping this program will promote a healthy lifestyle and therefore provide benefits for employers and employees. So far we have had a very positive response from employers."
An information session for employers interested in taking part in the Healthy Workers Scheme will be held on Wednesday, March 15, at 5.30pm at SCU's Natural Medicine Clinic, 6 Industry Drive, East Lismore. For bookings phone Brenda on 66269131.
