'ANTITRUST' TAKES YOUNG LAWYERS TO U.S. COURT

A special premier screening of the new U.S. feature film 'Antitrust', starring Tim Robbins as a malevolent 'Bill Gates' and based loosely on the Microsoft saga, will help a three-student team from Southern Cross University's Law School attend an International Moot Court Competition in Chicago later this year.

Appropriately, the Moot contest will focus on Information Technology and Privacy Law. To be held at the prestigious John Marshall Law School from 11-13 October, 2001, it will allow teams of American and international law students to demonstrate their analytical and courtroom skills. SCU's team comprises three final year Law students, Kristy Snape, Matt Walsh and Shaun Folpp.

"This is the fourth time we have competed in the annual competition and SCU was the first international Law School to compete," said the Head of the School of Law & Justice, Associate Professor, Brian Fitzgerald. "We are one of only three Australian Universities to compete last year and the only regional University to do so."

"The truth is dangerous - Trust is deadly", runs the tagline of a movie which is not expected to get a Lismore release. The action thriller looks at the darker side of the high-tech world and also stars Claire Forlani (Meet Joe Black) and Ryan Phillippe (Cruel Intentions).
