Dr Maria Pallotta-Chiaroll, a Senior Lecturer in Social Diversity in Health and Education at Deakin University in Melbourne, will deliver a free public lecture titled 'So What's Different About Doing Diversity? Rethinking Social Diversity in University Education and Culture' at Southern Cross University's Lismore campus on Friday 8 June.
A well-known writer and researcher in the fields of education and health,Dr Pallotta-Chiaroll specialises in contemporary issues such as ethnicity,gender, sexuality and HIV/STDs. Her publications include 'Someone You Know', about a friend with AIDS, 'Girls Talk: Young Women Speak their Hearts and Minds' and 'Tapestry', based on five generations of her Italian family.
The lunch time lecture will provide an ideal opportunity to hear one of the Australian education system's most stimulating commentators, according to SCU's Director of Equity and Student Support, Annie Burrett.
The venue is Room 1.81 in Z Block (the Nursing/Naturopathy building, entry from Rifle Range Road). Dr Pallotta-Chiaroll's talk will commence at 1.00pm.
