At 11am on Friday, 13 June, the Southern Cross University Whale Research Centre will launch a book called A Whale’s Song. This book, written by Timothy Harris, is being published to raise funds needed to continue and expand the research being done by the Centre.
A Whale’s Song tells the story of whales and whaling in Australia, and describes the work being done by researchers and volunteers along the East Coast and throughout the Pacific. The book is filled with spectacular photographs and illustrations. It’s release coincides with the start of the annual whale watching season.
Media are invited to the launch at the Byron Beach Hotel. As well as copies of the book, we will have available DVDs of whale vision, CD Roms of high resolution images of illustrated book pages and the cover, and an audio CD Rom of whale singing. Patron of the Centre, author Di Morrissey, Vice-Chancellor of SCU, Professor John Rickard, and Director of the Centre, Associate Professor Peter Harrison, will be available for interviews.
