Southern Cross University (SCU) has again confirmed its status as the premier provider of Tourism Education in the state by winning the Tourism New South Wales Awards for Business Excellence in Sydney last night.

This is the fifth time that the School of Tourism and Hospitality at SCU has won this award and it will now compete for the national awards to be announced in Adelaide in December.

In accepting the award the Head of the School of Tourism and Hospitality Management, Dr Perry Hobson, acknowledged the hard work and dedication of all the academic and administrative staff at the School's four campuses in Lismore, Tweed Gold Coast, Coffs Harbour and the Hotel School at the InterContinental Hotel in Sydney.

“This Award is a recognition also of the dedication of all our colleagues in other schools who contribute to our joint degrees programmes and our students and colleagues in our two associated research centres- the Centre for Regional Tourism Research (CRTR) and the Centre for Gaming Education and Research (CGER),” he said.

Dr Hobson will be available for comment this afternoon after 12 noon.
