Students hoping to study with Southern Cross University in 2006 are encouraged to explore options and apply early.
Applications are now open for all potential students interested in undergraduate programs through internal study with SCU.
Potential students have until September 30 to apply through the Tertiary Admission Centres, with late fees applying after this date. Applicants who want to study externally or enrol in a postgraduate program can apply directly to SCU for entry.
SCU Admissions Manager Peter Barnard said the best path to information was the Student Services toll-free number 1800-626481.
Mr Barnard said recent boosts in Commonwealth-funded places would flow through to 2006 with benefits in education, nursing, tourism, human resource management, counselling, marine science and exercise science programs.
He said the University had an offer guarantee for most courses, so school leavers with a rank of 70 or higher would secure a place.
"This offer guarantee is a significant assurance for them especially in a climate where cut-offs can fluctuate. Students can call the 1800 number to discuss the offer," he said.
Mr Barnard said for both school leavers and non-school leavers, the book 'Find your place' was also a useful guide to undergraduate entry to SCU. The book can be sent by post or email following request through SCU Student Services on 1800 626481, or it can be downloaded from www.scu.edu.au/findyourplace
He said for those non-year 12 applicants who had not studied at university before and wanted to find out about flexible entry criteria, the book was a means of working out their selection rank.
Southern Cross University also offers personalised campus tours which include information on courses, scholarships, accommodation and application information and requirements. Tours for the three campuses at Lismore, Coffs Harbour and Tweed Gold Coast can be booked by phoning 1800 111 890.
Information sessions for prospective students will be held at the Coffs Harbour campus on September 20 from 6pm to 8pm; Sydney Hotel School, September 24, 1pm to 4pm; Lismore, September 27, 6pm to 8pm; and Tweed Gold Coast, September 28, 6pm to 8pm.
