Up to 450 Year 12 students and careers advisers from as far as Gunnedah and Taree will converge on Southern Cross University's Coffs Harbour campus for the annual Senior Schools Day on Tuesday, December 6.
The day will provide students with first-hand information about the university experience, the chance to meet their peers who are already undertaking university study, and to find out about specific courses on offer at SCU.
Organiser Ms Janet Hanlan said the day was designed for students who will be doing their HSC in 2006.
The day will include specific information sessions covering all courses available at SCU's three campuses in Coffs Harbour, Lismore and Tweed Gold Coast.
"In the afternoon a panel of current SCU students will discuss a range of issues relevant to prospective students. This is an informal session where students will be able to participate and ask questions," Ms Hanlan said.
Up to 30 high school careers advisers will also have the chance to find out about regional employment opportunities for graduates and school leavers from a panel of human resource managers.
The panel will include Carol Ward, human resources manager at BCU; Linda Kirkwood, human resources manager at Coffs Harbour City Council; Julie Jardine, managing director of Thermal Electric Elements; Rod Peadon, learning and development officer, North Coast Area Health Service; and Tony Perkins, human resources manager, Novotel Pacific Bay Resort.
The annual Senior Schools Day at SCU's Coffs Harbour campus is on Tuesday, December 6 and runs from 10am to 2pm. For further information contact Janet Hanlan on 66593063.
