Australia's leading Web conference, hosted by Southern Cross University, will bring together some of the world's leading experts in the field of Web technology and applications.
Ausweb05 Conference is being held at the Royal Pines Resort at the Gold Coast from Saturday, July 2, to Wednesday, July 6 and will be officially opened by Southern Cross University Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Clark on Sunday.
The keynote speakers for the conference will be covering topics ranging from law and the Web to emerging technologies, digital libraries and education.
The speakers include Professor Eugene Clark, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Business and Arts at Charles Sturt University; Mr Rod Sims, academic director at QANTM; Terence Huwe, Director of Library and Information Resources Institute of Industrial Relations Library, University of California; Brad Kasell, Pacific Engagement Manager for IBM's jstart program; and Scott Georgeson, chief executive officer of Cintinel Corporation.
Southern Cross University Associate Professor Allan Ellis, who is the conference chair, said this event was Australia's premier Web conference, with a track record for delivering the most in-depth coverage of Web technology and applications of any Australian conference.
"Now in its 11th year the AusWeb conference series is the longest running regional Web conference in the world," Professor Ellis said.
"We have more than 130 delegates coming to Ausweb05 from around the country and from the United States, China, Hong Kong, New Zealand and Korea."
The conference has attracted delegates from more than half of all universities in Australia as well as the Australian Army, Department of Defence, CSIRO, IBM, Apple Australia, and TAFE NSW.
"One of the attractions of AusWeb is that it does not focus on a single aspect of Web technology but brings people together from a wide range of disciplines and interests: researchers, developers, educators, librarians and business users, Delegates evaluation report they value this experience," Professor Ellis said.
