Southern Cross University's law programs have ranked first in the country for overall graduate satisfaction according to a national survey administered by Graduate Careers Australia.
SCU ranked in the top 10 universities in the country for overall graduate satisfaction in 11 out of 16 fields of undergraduate study measured in the latest survey of all Australian graduates.
The survey collects information from graduates from all of the country's universities to measure their satisfaction with good teaching, generic skills development and overall satisfaction in undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The information will form the basis for the ratings listed in the Good Universities Guide 2007.
SCU's psychology program ranked first for good teaching and third for overall satisfaction out of 36 universities, including major metropolitan universities, and the tourism and hospitality area ranked fifth out of 22 universities.
The University was rated in the top 10 universities for overall satisfaction in the areas of communications, education and training, environmental studies, para-legal studies and sport and leisure.
In post-graduate study, SCU ranked first in accounting out of 23 universities, and first in tourism and hospitality out of five universities. It ranked third out of 40 in business and management and fourth out of 30 for computing and information technology.
Vice-Chancellor Professor Paul Clark said the rankings were an outstanding result and demonstrated the dedication and professionalism of the University's teaching and support staff.
"We are a student-focussed, regional university and this graduate survey confirms that we are providing some of the best quality teaching available in Australia," Professor Clark said.
"It is our aim to be the best value education provider in Australia and we are well on the way to achieving that," he said.
