Time to change university preferences

Southern Cross University has had good demand for places across a broad range of courses for 2007, with particular interest in areas including education, nursing, human movement science and law.
With the Universities Admission Index (UAI) released this week, many people will now be looking at what options are available to them for university study.
Southern Cross University’s Admissions Manager, Mr Peter Barnard, said anyone applying through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC) had until January 4 to change their preferences for the main round of offers.
“There is still plenty of time to think about what you want to study and to make changes to your preferences. We are also still accepting direct applications for distance education,” he said.
“If your UAI or OP (for Queensland students) is higher than expected then make sure you have your ‘dream’ course placed as first preference. But, if it is lower than expected you can change the preferences to more realistic choices.
“There are also a number of other pathways into university, including Southern Cross University’s Preparing for Success course which is run as a summer school and in second semester.”
Mr Barnard said there had been strong interest across a variety of courses at Southern Cross University.
At the Lismore campus the Bachelor of Business in International Tourism Management, the combined Bachelor of Human Movement Science and Bachelor of Education, and Bachelor of Laws have been popular. At the Coffs Harbour campus there has been strong demand for Bachelor of Education (Primary), Bachelor of Business and the Bachelor of Nursing, while the Bachelor of Business in Convention and Event Management has been popular at the Tweed Gold Coast campus.
“We have a number of new courses for 2007 which are also attracting interest. These include the Bachelor of Clinical Sciences and Bachelor of Marine Science at Lismore, and the Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies at Tweed Gold Coast.”
