Anyone considering University study in 2008 can find out all about course options and how to apply at Southern Cross University information sessions being held throughout the North Coast this month.

The sessions will be held in Ballina, Lismore, Murwillumbah, Byron Bay and Tweed Gold Coast, and will provide information on courses, how to apply, flexible study options, fees and costs and the popular Preparing for Success program.

Nicole Medcalf, a Bachelor of Business student, is studying by distance education allowing her to successfully combine study with a full-time job and raising two children.

Nicole, a relationship manager, ANZ business banking, said the flexibility provided by Southern Cross was the only reason that she had been able to undertake her degree.

She said despite juggling a full-time job and two kids, two subjects per semester was still manageable.

“You have to be organised and can’t waste time, but it can be done,” she said.

Studying units at her own pace via distance education is another huge attraction for Nicole.

“Here at Southern Cross University I have everything laid out in front of me – it’s a breath of fresh air. The university made it easy for me. Over the years I’ve had lecturers ring up and email to say they’re here to help, and they are accessible if I want them.”

The closing date for on-time applications for study in first semester 2008 through the University Admissions Centre (UAC) and the Queensland Tertiary Admissions Centre (QTAC) is Friday, September 28. Applications for study by distance education can be made at any time directly to the University.
