Southern Cross University will showcase some of their best music performers when third-year music students present their final year exams to the public from October 29 to November 1.

The exams will demonstrate the diverse musical skills and talents of 23 final-year Bachelor of Contemporary Music students. The performances will cover a range of styles from New Orleans blues and funk, to jazz and alternative rock and include drums, guitar, vocal, bass and keyboard.

Dr Annie Mitchell, course co-ordinator for the Bachelor of Contemporary Music, said the third-year performances were a wonderful opportunity to highlight the enormous variety of talent within the music program.

“Our course has a well-established reputation for producing some of Australia’s leading musicians and musical directors. This is a great opportunity to hear some of the country’s up and coming musicians,” Dr Mitchell said.

The exams are being held at the Southern Cross University Bar, Lismore campus, from Monday, October 29 to Thursday, November 1. Performances are open to the public.

The exam times are:
Drums: Monday, October 29, 4pm-11pm
Guitar: Tuesday, October 30, 7pm-11pm
Vocal: Wednesday, October 31, 6pm -10 pm
Bass: Thursday, November 1, 6pm-8:30pm
