An information session highlighting teaching as a career will be held at Southern Cross University’s Coffs Harbour campus on Tuesday, September 4.

The ‘Teach and Make a Difference’ information session will highlight the range of education courses available, from early childhood through to graduate secondary teaching programs.

Associate Professor Anne Graham, Head of School of Education, said the information session was designed to provide information for school leavers and those wanting a change of career.

Staff and current students will be on hand to answer questions and provide all the necessary information about how to apply, scholarships and student support.

Southern Cross University offers the Bachelor of Education (Primary); Bachelor of Technology Education; Bachelor of Education and Graduate Diploma of Education; and a combined Bachelor of Arts/Bachelor of Education (Secondary).

It will also be offering for the first time the Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood) at the Coffs Harbour campus in 2008. This course is designed to prepare graduates to teach children from birth to eight years in a variety of settings including preschools, primary schools, day care centres and other early childhood services.

“Early childhood education has been identified as a national priority. The course will focus on quality care and learning for every child including those who may be ‘at risk’ of falling behind in the critical early years,” Professor Graham said.

The information session will be held at the Southern Cross University Coffs Harbour campus, Hogbin Drive, on Tuesday, September 4 from 5pm to 6.30pm in Room D150.
