Southern Cross University expects to welcome about 600 new and continuing students to the Tweed Gold Coast campus during Orientation Week, starting on Monday.
The students will be officially welcomed to the University by the Head of Campus, Professor Bryan Rothwell, on Tuesday, February 20 and on Thursday, February 22 at 9am.
A host of activities have been planned for the week including information sessions, barbecues, an icebreaker party, pizza parties, campus tours and dance parties.
On Friday, the Campus Cruze bus will ferry students to the Lismore campus for a campus tour and to join all students for a mega pool party at Lismore Memorial Baths.
Professor Rothwell said strong demand for courses including the Bachelor of Social Science and Bachelor of Business as well as Secondary Education and Surfing Studies had led to the continued growth at the Tweed Gold Coast campus.
“I’m delighted to welcome all our new and continuing students,” Professor Rothwell said. “This is a small but developing campus with a cosmopolitan feel having students from about 30 different countries studying here.
“They bring in a lot of spending power as well as injecting tremendous social diversity.
“Recent figures show that the Tweed Gold Coast campus injects about $13.85 million to the area and creates about 126 jobs within the region.”
