We’re happy to CU@SCU during O-Week

Southern Cross University expects to welcome about 1500 new and continuing students to the Coffs Harbour campus during Orientation Week, starting on Monday (February 19).

A host of activities have been planned for the week including information sessions, barbecues, film nights and dance parties.

The students will be officially welcomed to the University by Professor Zbys Klich, Head of Campus and Pro Vice-Chancellor Academic, on Tuesday, February 20, at 2pm in the D Block lecture theatre.

Professor Klich said strong demand for courses including the Bachelor of Education (Primary), Bachelor of Psychology and the Bachelor of Nursing, had led to the tremendous growth at the Coffs Harbour campus amounting to a 60 per cent increase in student numbers over the past two years.

“I’m delighted to welcome all our new and continuing students,” Professor Klich said.

“We will have more Australian students and more international students at the Coffs Harbour campus this year than ever before. It’s a very exciting time for the University and the Coffs Harbour community, which will reap the benefits of this influx of students,” he said.

At the Coffs campus, activities during O-Week will include a breakfast barbecue, an ‘icebreaker’ party, a game of paintball, a ‘Hollywood glitz and glam film night’ and a dance party.

Students will also have the chance to meet the candidates for the State election on Tuesday, February 20, at 1pm.

Information sessions for all courses are also scheduled throughout the week, along with campus tours, learning assistance workshops and a range of other activities.
