Southern Cross University has had the largest increase in new enrolling students across all NSW universities for 2007.
The latest figures released by the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations show the University has had a 12.8 per cent increase in commencing students from 2006 to 2007. This is far above the NSW increase of just 3.6 per cent and the national increase of 3.3 per cent.
Across the country, Southern Cross University was among the top six Universities for new students.
“We are delighted with the continued strong growth in demand for our courses,” the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Paul Clark, said.
“These figures are evidence that our focus on providing a high-quality education, combined with excellent student support and a more personalised approach have made us an extremely attractive option for students across NSW and beyond.
“We know our students are happy and word is spreading that our students have an enjoyable and rewarding experience.
“We also provide a range of flexible learning options, which is increasingly important for students who are combining work, study and family commitments, and we have developed new pathways into University opening up opportunities for all sectors of the community.”
Professor Clark said courses that had experienced particular growth included education and tourism at the Tweed Gold Coast campus; nursing and secondary education at Coffs Harbour; and nursing and education at Lismore.
Enrolments are now open for the 2009 intake. Information is available at http://www.scu.edu.au/courses/
