The wait is over for nearly 1000 prospective students who have received an early offer to study at Southern Cross University in 2010.

The early offers, made through UAC today (December 10) and QTAC late last week, means those students don’t need to wait until their Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) is released.

Admissions manager Ms Sarah Beresford said around 500 of the early offers made by Southern Cross University SCU were to Year 12 students as a result of a successful application through the STAR Entry Scheme, based upon their high school principal's recommendation.

The STAR Entry Scheme is available to Year 12 students in the region from the NSW Central Coast in the south, west to the NSW/SA border, north to the Darling Downs in Queensland and including the greater Gold Coast.

“We are very pleased to make offers early, giving students the opportunity to relax over Christmas and have time to organise their lives and prepare for their study in 2010,” Ms Beresford said.

“For those who haven’t received an offer, there is still plenty of time. Further offers will be made in the second December offer round via QTAC, just before Christmas, and the UAC preliminary round in the first week of January.”

The main round of offers will be released on January 14 for QTAC and January 20 for UAC.

Ms Beresford said it was still not too late to apply for on-campus studies (late fees apply). To be included in the UAC main round applications must be made online by December 11. QTAC will accept applications online for their main round until 22 December.

“For anyone considering studying their degree by distance education, applications can be made directly to Southern Cross University and there is no charge. Our Direct Application Form can be downloaded from our website and applications are open throughout January and into February," Ms Beresford said.

“We aim to provide a range of flexible study options as we know that many people have to juggle various commitments.”

Southern Cross University offers personalised campus tours, which can be booked at any of the campuses by phoning 02 66203975.
