TRANSIT 09 – Southern Cross University’s graduate art show – opens this Friday for its annual two-week season in the visual arts block.

The exhibition, which features the work of 50 new and emerging artists, covers art forms as diverse as video art, bronze, artists’ books, ceramics, papermaking, installation art, woodfire, printmaking, sculpture, and painting.

Members of the public are invited to visit the free exhibition and take advantage of the opportunity to see and purchase work early in the careers of these promising new artists, some of whom are already well on their way to acclaim with recent sales to public and private collections.

Opening night for the public and for students is this Friday, October 9, from 5pm until 8pm, in the visual arts block (V- block). There is a private gala preview opening on Thursday.

TRANSIT 09 will be open to the public Monday to Saturday from 10am to 5pm, with extended hours on Thursdays until 8pm. It continues until Saturday, October 24. The exhibition is closed on Sundays.
