With Higher School Certificate exams just around the corner, there is still time for Northern Rivers’ students to gain valuable insights into how to do well.

Southern Cross University’s School of Education is hosting the 11th annual Higher School Certificate Study Day for students and teachers on Thursday, June 16, at the Lismore campus.

Around 700 Year 12 students and their teachers are expected to attend the popular event designed to help guide students to success as they prepare for their final exams.

Experts who are experienced in setting and marking Higher School Certificate exam papers present on a wide range of topics giving students and teachers a fantastic insight into HSC expectations.

The presentations highlight those specific topic areas which must be thoroughly prepared for, ensuring teachers and students cover all necessary syllabus requirements.

With high calibre presenters from across New South Wales, the University’s School of Education is supporting the learning success of students across the region with this event.

Session presenters are chosen because of their expertise and their recent relevant HSC experience. Many are award-winning teachers in their specialist subjects or have been HSC markers in the past. As well, there are teachers presenting who consistently get students in the top 10 per cent of the state, so learning their tips and secrets will be a definite advantage for HSC students and their teachers.

Students get an insight into what to expect during their exam period, the material they need to have covered, what examiners look for in answers, and how to cope with stress.

Teachers get an insight into what the examiners want the students to know, past exam questions and core knowledge requirements students must have before they sit the exam.

The HSC Study Day is a joint initiative of the University's School of Education, the NSW Department of Education and the Catholic Education Office in Lismore.
