Day of celebration for graduands in Sydney

Two Southern Cross University graduates now holding key roles in business and tourism will deliver the occasional addresses at the University’s graduation ceremonies in Sydney tomorrow (Saturday April 21).
Over 200 graduands will attend two ceremonies at the Wesley Conference Centre in Pitt Street at 10.30am and 4pm.
Anthony Matis FCPA, B Bus (SCU), General Manager NSW Division and General Manager Education at CPA Australia will deliver the occasional address at the morning ceremony. Executive General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Hayman and Mulpha Hotels Australia, Anna Guillan MBA Hotel and Tourism Management (SCU), will deliver the afternoon occasional address.
Ms Guillan’s role with Mulpha Hotels includes managing tourism assets such as the Hayman, Hyatt Regency Sanctuary Cove, InterContinental Sydney, Hilton Melbourne Airport and The Hotel School Sydney. She also holds many positions with the Australian tourism industry such as Vice-Chair of the Australian Tourism Export Council; a member of Tourism Australia’s Business Events Industry Advisory Panel; USA Tourism Australian Industry Advisory Panel; and Southern Cross University School of Tourism and Hospitality Management Advisory Board.
In recognition of her dedication and contribution to the tourism industry, Ms Guillan was a 2002 finalist in the prestigious Telstra Business Women’s Awards. She is also a co-founder of the NELUNE Foundation, a government registered charitable fundraising organisation that aims to provide psychological and practical support for public hospital and underprivileged cancer patients in the community.
The pair will be joined by Southern Cross University Chancellor The Hon John Dowd AO QC, and Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Lee FTSE. Mr Dowd is a former NSW Attorney-General and Supreme Court Judge.
Graduands come from across seven different SCU academic schools.
