Southern Cross University Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Lee FTSE will continue in the role of Vice Chancellor until 2017.

The Southern Cross University Council voted unanimously at its meeting on Friday, February 15, to extend Professor Lee’s contract to continue as Vice Chancellor until late 2017. Professor Lee accepted this further extension of his contract.

Southern Cross University Chancellor The Hon John Dowd AO QC said Professor Lee’s performance as Vice Chancellor had been outstanding.

“His impact in carrying out the University's mission is greatly appreciated by the University Council. Council is very pleased that Peter will continue to lead Southern Cross University through to 2017,” the Chancellor said.

Professor Lee started as Vice Chancellor at SCU in 2009. Professor Lee said he was delighted to accept a further extension of his contract.

“Southern Cross University has had some outstanding achievements and continues to enhance its research and teaching activities, providing new opportunities for students across our region and beyond,” Professor Lee said.

“We have recently been granted $28 million for a new Science and Engineering Precinct and Learning Centre at our Lismore campus and I am pleased to have the opportunity to see this project through to completion,” Professor Lee said.

“We are also continuing with our expansion at the Gold Coast. I look forward to continuing to work with Council and our staff to further build on our achievements.”
