Celebrations have begun to mark the 20th anniversary of Southern Cross University with the launch of a dedicated website for gathering history and stories and for reconnecting with friends.

scu.edu.au/history/ features a timeline of key events in the life of SCU, photographs, videos, and reflections from alumni and former staff. It is an interactive website, where alumni, former and current staff and students, and members of the community can share their stories, memories, photographs and reconnect with friends and colleagues.

Southern Cross University was established on 1 January 1994. SCU now has campuses at Lismore, Coffs Harbour, the southern Gold Coast and a new branch campus in Sydney.

Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Lee said marking 20 years provided an opportunity to look back on the accomplishments of the University, its graduates and staff.

“In our 20th year we are looking forward as well as back, to imagine what the next 20 years can represent for SCU,” Professor Lee said.

“I think of this website as a virtual ‘scrap book’. We've created the pages and we are now inviting people to fill them in, to post their recollections, their well wishes, their photos and their thoughts to share with the University community, our community partners and our alumni.”

The University is planning a number of activities across the year to celebrate, including a reunion event for alumni on August 30 at the Lismore campus, and a series of keynote addresses by The Hon John Dowd AO QC to mark the conclusion of his 12-year term as Chancellor.

Details of all other anniversary events are included on our website.
