More than 150 runners will don blue and gold to represent Southern Cross University in the 2015 Gold Coast Marathon runners festival.
A total of 153 students, staff, alumni and friends of the University are registered for the festival, with 82 set to run the Southern Cross University 10km Run.
There are 41 representatives set to brave the 21km half-marathon and 18 will line up for the big event – the 42km marathon.
Southern Cross University sports officer Dave Graham said the level of participation in this year’s festival was impressive, especially in the 10km event.
“As the major sponsors of the Southern Cross University 10km Run it’s fantastic to have more than half of our University team taking part in this particular event,” he said.
“Members of our elite sports team that will be representing the University in the marathon include Anthony Di Battista, current Australian University Distance marathon running champion, and Jocelyn Pollock. Ironman Brian Fuller, who recently returned from competing in Hawaii, will be taking part in the half-marathon.”
The Gold Coast Marathon runners festival is on from Saturday 4 July to Sunday 5 July, attracting more than 27,000 runners from around Australia and the world.
Spectators are welcome to cheer on the runners at the start and finish line of the Broadwater Parklands at Southport.
