One of Australia’s leading business educators has taken up a new role as Dean of Business and Head of Southern Cross University’s Gold Coast Campus.

After four years as Director of Executive Education and Global EMBA at the University of Sydney, Professor Robin Stonecash has moved to Southern Cross with a clear brief to develop some of Australia’s leading business education programs.

Southern Cross Vice Chancellor Professor Adam Shoemaker said Professor Stonecash’s experience and track record of achievement through innovative approaches to education and research would enable her to play a valuable leadership role at Southern Cross.

"Regional Australians hold the future of the Australian economy in their hands and innovative regional universities like Southern Cross can deliver new education and research programs that will give the nation’s economic leaders the skills, ideas and networks they need," Professor Shoemaker said.

"Robin Stonecash has delivered executive education for more than two decades and her appointment is a great testament to the potential of our business programs and our university.

"Southern Cross University is developing a new dialogue with leaders across regional Australia. We know that regional Australians want universities ready to collaborate and work across a range of disciplines to deliver relevant courses and targeted, business-ready research. Robin’s experience in innovation and education will be pivotal in delivering outcomes that Australian organisations and communities desperately want.

"We warmly welcome Robin and look forward to the contribution she will make across regional Australia as well as in the Gold Coast region as head of campus."

Professor Stonecash welcomed the opportunity to build a renowned suite of business programs that would attract students not just from across Australia, but also many more international students.

"I’m delighted to have the opportunity to make Southern Cross University a new, sought-after business education destination," Professor Stonecash said.

"I look forward to working with colleagues and the community to create a business program that sets a new benchmark for relevance and impact.

"The Gold Coast campus of Southern Cross University is an outstanding education environment. It is the only university in the world located at an international airport, with teaching areas and science labs that any university in the world would be proud to call their own.
