Support for Sri Lankan students

Acting Vice Chancellor Professor Tyrone Carlin said the university condemned the violence, which killed more than 200 people in a series of bomb blasts across Colombo.

“Southern Cross University has close ties with Sri Lanka and this attack has left us all shocked,” he said.

“We have Sri Lankan students across the Southern Cross campuses and they are an important and valued part of the cosmopolitan fabric of our University community.”

Professor Carlin said students could access the university’s 24-hour crisis and counselling service through 1300 782 676 for emotional support.

Sri Lanka’s Government has declared a state of emergency and temporarily shut down access to social media channels.
