Seventy-four Southern Cross University students have switched from kicking study goals to kicking sporting goals this week at the 2022 UniSport Nationals in Perth, Western Australia.
Southern Cross has had a striking start at the games, with Master of Business Administration student Graham Dore winning Team SCU’s first gold medal for Men’s Judo.
Graham has been practising Judo since he was 13, and it is his first time participating at the UniSport Nationals.
“It always feels good to be first,” Graham chuffed.
Graham will now switch from the Gold-winning podium to the graduation podium in Melbourne this weekend to collect his Master of Project Management testamur he completed in 2020 with Southern Cross, along with his recently finalised MBA.
“I made a joke to my wife that I’ll study something else now, and she said that if I enrol in any more courses she will divorce me,” laughed Graham.
Southern Cross has 10 teams representing eight sports this year, including Futsal, Judo, Basketball, Beach Volleyball, Netball, Mixed Netball, Touch Football, and Golf.
“Graham’s achievement shows that studying an MBA at Southern Cross can be so much more than the course content,” said Vice President (Students) Brendon Nelson.
“Being part of the Southern Cross community helps many people pursue their educational journey as well as their other passions while building friendships and networks that last a lifetime.”
UniSport Nationals sees over 5,000 student athletes from across the country battle it out to be crowned national champions across 26 sports.
