Attention, curious minds. Southern Cross University's Open Day is back, and packed with more excitement than a solar-powered robotic dance party. Get ready for a day filled with transformative study and career experiences, from simulated births to dating ancient human teeth (yes, you read that right).

Vice President (Engagement) Ben Roche said this year's signature event gives prospective students the chance to explore the campuses in a completely new way through hands-on experiences, guided tours and the opportunity to mingle with experts and alumni at interactive panel sessions.

"Open Day is like speed-recruiting your future university. You'll have the best minds in one place, ready to answer all your burning questions and show off the study experiences we have at Southern Cross,” he said.

And there are some intriguing experiences on offer. For the budding engineers out there, prepare to be blown away by what you can make with 3D printing, centrifugal pump mechanics, and robots that might just take over the world (or at least your house).

A birthing simulation demonstration will be an eyeopener for aspiring midwives. For those who are thinking about a career in IT, a cyber security challenge pits your wits against real-life digital crims.

History buffs with a passion for ancient dental records are in for a truly unique ‘dating’ experience in Australia’s one-and-only Biomics facility at the Northern Rivers campus, used to study fossils, plants, animals and soil.

There’s nothing watery about the experience for future marine scientists at our National Marine Science Centre in Coffs Harbour while the exercise science skills challenge on all campuses promises to make you sweat (in a good way, we promise).

To top it off a novel 'game show' quiz demonstrates a Naturopath's treatment approach in a holistic healing extravaganza with the chance to make a DIY tea blend.

Southern Cross University is home to 17,000 students across its main campuses at Gold Coast, Northern Rivers, Coffs Harbour and online. Open Day is also a chance to get an inside view on the revolutionary Southern Cross Model, the six-week model transforming university study.

Mark your calendars for the Southern Cross Open Day extravaganza: 10am – 2pm at the Gold Coast on Sunday 6 August and 10 am – 2pm at the Coffs Harbour campus on Sunday 13 August, with a twilight-style Open Day event at Northern Rivers campus from 3 – 7pm on Thursday 10 August.

Booking is not essential but recommended. Register now for on-campus panels and experiences, or for on-demand online content, at discover.scu.edu.au
