Cameron Van Hooft is hyped. Recently completing his Bachelor of Digital Media at Southern Cross University, Cameron was a participant in the prestigious 2023 Screenworks mentorship program at the award-winning video production giant, Hype Republic.

The Screenworks mentorship program provides Southern Cross University students with tailor-made, screen-related development and networking opportunities. For Cameron, it was a game-changer.

“This opportunity gave me a substantial understanding of how a prominent video production company operates. It gave me the confidence to believe I can achieve similar goals.”

Cameron's time at Hype Republic's office exposed him to diverse experiences, from concept development, mood boarding, storyboarding, client meetings, to budgeting, scheduling, and of course video editing!

"I observed 30-second TV projects in the concept stage through to a Motorsport Team Announcement video that reached final publication," said Cameron.

"I also spent a significant amount of time with the Colourist, Joe Lancaster, who was completing the colour grading stage of a Red Bull music video. It's a stage that takes more time than I realised."

Reflecting on the broader impact of Screenworks, Cameron noted the tangible outcomes of the mentorship program.

"Screenworks provided me with insights into the screen industry that I couldn't have gained anywhere else."

"In 2023, a major Australian TV series was being filmed in my street, where I discovered that many crew members had landed their positions thanks to Screenworks."

Now Cameron’s goals are focused on creating his own marketing agency, drawing from his experience with HYPE Republic to harness remarkable content and video creation.
