Southern Cross University Health Clinic offers patient-centred services for students, staff and the general public at both the Lismore campus and the Gold Coast campus.
Holistic approaches to health and wellbeing have become accepted as mainstream in the health care choices of people both in Australia and around the world. To complement this approach the Health Clinic includes health packages and fitness programs which can be tailored to suit all health needs through exercise and physiology clinics.
Facilities
The purpose-built health and teaching facility provides consultations in general practice, osteopathy, exercise physiology, podiatry, speech pathology, dietitian, mental health nurse practitioner, educational and developmental psychology and massage.
One of the unique features of Southern Cross University Health Clinic is that consultations are available through the Student Clinics - where senior, fully-supervised students undertake the consultation. Consultations are also available from private practitioners who provide services with Medicare and private insurance rebates, where applicable.
Services
The range of services offered at the clinic encompass allied health and main stream services with Medicare health fund rebates available. Services include health packages and fitness programs which can be tailored to suit all health needs.
The Southern Cross University Health Clinic has three purposes:
- Provide a professional and caring health service to the general public
- Education of students in application of health care services to the public
- Provide the student with a professional and supportive environment to research and develop knowledge in a specialised area.
The Student Clinic ensures that Southern Cross University's health graduates know how to apply their knowledge and skills in a supervised clinical setting. The Clinic offers discounted services in osteopathy, podiatry, speech pathology and exercise physiology provided by students who are overseen by registered practitioners.
