Gurpreet Singh is Southern Cross University’s Student Member on Council. 

Gurpreet is currently a PhD candidate in the Faculty of Health at the University where he also completed a Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science and achieved a First-Class Honours degree in a Bachelor of Human Health Sciences (Honours), with the University Medal. He combines his outstanding academic mind with enthusiastic coaching and mentoring of young athletes locally. He has provided expert advice and training to rising young athletes in the National Rugby League RISE program in Coffs Harbour, Sydney Swans Academy and ACE Performance. Most recently, Gurpreet was a part of the Gold Coast Titans NRL Women’s high performance team working with the sport scientist and strength and conditioning staff.

Gurpreet has been a student ambassador at the University for six years and has a strong passion in inspiring future students to study at the University. Gurpreet is also a prominent figure in the local Sikh community in Coffs Harbour, where he is actively involved with community programs. His involvement with the greater community is highlighted by his nomination as the Coffs Harbour City Council’s Young Citizen of the Year in 2022.
