John Lee has enjoyed a successful career leading private and public-sector organisations. He has extensive experience working with all levels of Government. He has been a Director General in Queensland and New South Wales, including as Head of the NSW Premier's Department, as well as Commerce and Transport for NSW.

John's career has been multifaceted and he has worked extensively in transport operations, tourism, the Olympics and professional sport. His current board portfolio includes: Chair of Jobs for NSW, Chair of Melanoma Patients Australia, Commissioner of Tourism Western Australia, Chairman of SportsGrid Pty Ltd Advisory Board, and a Director of Australian Triathlon.

He has also previously served on the Australian Sports Commission, Tourism & Events Queensland, and the Australian Advertising Standards Bureau. John spends a lot of time on the southern end of the Gold Coast and northern NSW where SCU's campuses are situated.
