Nicolas (Nic) Brown

Nicolas Brown is an experienced executive and non-executive director who has spent much of his career in the for-purpose sector, with a focus on health, mental health and social impact.
Nic is currently CEO of Street Side Medics, a not-for-profit organisation delivering free, GP-led mobile healthcare to people experiencing homelessness. Since joining the organisation in 2024, he has led its continued growth and expansion across Australia, working closely with government, community, philanthropic and corporate partners. Prior to Street Side Medics, Nic spent almost a decade with youth mental health organisation Batyr. He joined the organisation during its early stages and held a number of leadership positions before serving as CEO and Executive Director until 2023, helping to lead its growth into a national organisation supporting young people and communities across Australia.
Nic has held a range of governance and advisory roles, including as a Non-Executive Director of Suicide Prevention Australia, a member of its Policy Committee, and a Technical Advisory Group member supporting the National Mental Health Commission’s National Stigma and Discrimination Reduction Strategy. He has also advised organisations and philanthropic initiatives on strategy and social impact.
Nic is an alumnus of Southern Cross University and was recognised as the University’s Young Alumnus of the Year in 2021. He brings to the Southern Cross University Council experience across governance, organisational growth, strategy, partnerships and community impact, as well as a strong connection to the University and the communities it serves.
