The members of the Health Services, Clinical and Community theme are deeply committed to tackling health inequity and prioritising patient-centred care, building on joint strengths for health service research at the clinical and community interface, stakeholder engagement, MCR and ECR support. Digital solutions and workforce development will support the translation of research into practice.

In the next three years we see our research influencing practice and policy regionally, nationally and internationally.

Our research

Collaborative, interprofessional and community co-designed research, to improve the delivery of health services and support workforce development across the clinical and community interface.

Our research focus

  1. Equity in health – a focus on health equity and equality research especially for disadvantaged populations.
  2. Partnerships in care – research to improve health services, co-designed solutions, consumer and stakeholder engagement, prioritising the patient and carer journeys.
  3. Implementation science – the scientific study of methods and strategies that facilitate the uptake of evidence-based practice and research.

Digital solutions are core components to achieving our vision and will be used to link and achieve effective translation of research into practice. Our research will include digital adoption of innovative technologies to improve health service delivery across the clinical and community interface to support the patient journey.

Workforce development initiatives that support and empower healthcare professionals to deliver the best outcomes and experience for patients and carers are key to achieving our vision. Our research will upskill healthcare professionals’ capabilities, build collaborative interprofessional work practices, and support continuous improvement for clinical safety and quality that is responsive to the needs of our communities.
