Construction starts on SCU Gold Coast's Building C

Construction of the third building at Southern Cross University’s Gold Coast campus is underway and on schedule for completion in early 2017.

The foundations are currently being laid for Building C, with the construction process being captured on webcam.

The six-storey building will comprise a 500-seat lecture, Learning Centre, SCU College and teaching and learning spaces. The development will also include more than 500 additional car spaces.

Southern Cross University Vice Chancellor Professor Peter Lee said the Gold Coast campus was in an exciting period of expansion, continuing to grow in line with the region’s southern corridor.

“This development will provide enhanced student amenity and an expanded base for our growing student profile, both domestic and international,” Professor Lee said.

“We are experiencing strong demand for courses at our Gold Coast campus and this next stage in our development will provide additional facilities for our students.”

Southern Cross University’s infrastructure project manager David Hadley said construction on Building C was on schedule to be ready for start of the 2017 academic year.

“Building C is a significant project which will deliver enormous benefit to SCU staff, students and the Gold Coast community,” Mr Hadley said.

“The construction progress can be viewed online 24/7 via a webcam.”
