Your pathway to a degree at Southern Cross University
If you're about to finish a course at TAFE or another registered training provider you might be thinking about continuing your studies at university. Southern Cross is a great choice. We have a lot of flexible study options so you can balance uni with the rest of your life.
Our graduates are among the best paid in Australia and we receive very high graduate employment rates across nursing education business engineering and allied health.
So how do you get started? I'm going to talk you through the various pathways to a degree at Southern Cross University.
If you have completed a qualification from TAFE or another registered training provider there are several options for you. You could even receive credit for your previous studies, which would save you time and money in a degree.
So let's begin with the undergraduate certificates. These courses are six-month, full-time or 12-month part-time. If you've completed a certificate III or IV you are guaranteed entry into these courses. They provide foundational knowledge and an introduction to a discipline. Once you finish an undergraduate certificate, you can transition into a diploma. This will take you an additional six months of full-time study or equivalent part-time study. Southern cross offers a Diploma of Arts And Social Sciences, a Diploma of Business, a Diploma of Civil Construction (engineering and management), a Diploma of Health, a Diploma of Science and a Diploma of Hotel Management.
Each of these diplomas is a pathway to a very wide range of bachelor degrees and of course you get credit for all of your studies so far. Just be aware that if you are aiming for a particular degree, you need to choose the linked specialisation in each diploma. Check the course page for more information about this. If you haven't studied for a while, would like to polish up your skills or develop confidence to study at a university level, Southern Cross offers a great pathway program called Preparing for Success or PSP. This is a free, three-month full-time course that builds the academic and research skills you will need to succeed at university.
When I made the decision to study, I did the PSP course as I'd been out of school for a while and it made all the difference when I started my Bachelor of Education. Once you complete PSP, you are guaranteed a place in a Southern Cross bachelor degree. If you finished a certificate III or higher with TAFE or a registered training provider, you can apply directly to the university. if you want to apply for any of our courses jump onto the Southern Cross website and go to the course you're interested in. Click the how to apply button and follow the prompts. It's that easy. If you've got any questions, don't forget our friendly future students team they're here Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm to answer all your questions.
Also why not register for a campus tour or a Q&A webinar. Details are on our website. We'll see you soon at Southern Cross University.
Your work or voluntary experience may substitute for holding a tertiary qualification for entry and credit, if you can understand and can perform the learning outcomes in a discipline-related Bachelor or Masters Degree.
