The Land, Sharing and the Law Conference was held at the Northern Rivers Campus and online on Friday 28th February, 2025. The conference invited, empowered and encouraged innovative, community led responses to the wicked problems of housing and homelessness facing our communities.

Children's Righs and the Law Conference

Following on from the success of the Children, Trauma and the Law Conference in 2023, Southern Cross University hosted the next forum targeting and challenging the ongoing conversation of Children’s Rights and the Law. This conference engaged with perspectives from research, practice, advocacy and lived experience across the areas of family law, child protection and care, and criminal law and youth justice. Its aim was to stimulate dialogue about how the law does, and should, respect children and young people’s rights.

Family Law 4 Kids Toolkit Launch

The official launch of ‘Family Law 4 Kids’ – an online toolkit to help children and young people understand and exercise their right to participate in family law processes when their parents separate. Family Law 4 Kids has been co-designed with 41 children and young people aged 10 to 19 from across Queensland, NSW and Victoria, whose parents separated and accessed the family law system. The launch showcased their meaningful, diverse contributions to designing and developing the Toolkit – a practice output created by, and for, children and young people.
