Please join us for our monthly Lunch Law Talks - topical conversations on contemporary legal issues hosted by Professor David Heilpern

Edwina Lloyd
Eddie Lloyd is an accredited specialist in criminal law & has been practising since graduating with Honours from Southern Cross University in 2010. She began her career in Sydney before relocating to the Northern Rivers, where she later taught law at SCU and established her own practice, Lloyd Law.
Eddie regularly appears in criminal, mental health and civil jurisdictions, and has developed a broad practice acting in complex and often sensitive matters, many of which engage fundamental rights and freedoms.
In addition to her legal work, Eddie served as a councillor on Lismore City Council. This experience has informed her understanding of the intersection between law, politics and advocacy, including the strategic and practical realities of campaigning for reform.
She has been a longstanding advocate for drug law reform, supporting a shift away from punitive approaches towards health-based responses, including increased access to rehabilitation and healing services. Eddie has also acted for environmental activists such as Violet Coco and organisations such as the Bob Brown Foundation.
More recently, Eddie represented Australian Defence Force whistleblower David McBride in proceedings before the High Court of Australia. She continues to advocate for stronger protections for whistleblowers and greater accountability within government.
Through her work, Eddie remains committed to the rule of law & advancing fairness, integrity, and compassion within the legal system.
