Take your learning beyond borders
A global business experience
We've integrated international opportunities in and beyond the classroom, shaping students into globally minded professionals. With the option of studying abroad and with unique opportunities to collaborate on cross-cultural projects to hearing from global leaders, students gain firsthand insight into how business works beyond borders.
It’s more than travel — it’s about developing the cultural intelligence and global perspective to take your career further.
What your global journey could look like
Year 1
Foundations and industry challenge
Build your business fundamentals through real-world projects and explore how business impacts communities and economies around the world. In your final module, you’ll begin mapping your global journey - researching international business landscapes and preparing for what’s ahead. (Tip: it might be time to apply for that passport!)
Year 2
Deep dive, global incubator and mentor link
Take your learning global with the opportunity to study abroad and gain credit towards your degree. Choose from a curated list of partner universities in destinations like Japan, the UK, or the USA - where you’ll explore how international markets operate, all while earning credit toward your degree.
Year 3
Strategy sprint and professional placement
Put your knowledge into action through a global internship or project. Whether working overseas or remotely with an international business, you’ll solve real business challenges while building valuable experience.
Rub shoulders with industry
We're teaming up with some of the most innovative businesses in our region to deliver engaged learning experiences like never before.
At Southern Cross University, industry immersion begins from the first day of your degree. This isn’t just about internships, it’s about solving real business challenges as part of your coursework. That's why we're teaming up with some of the best brands to deliver an engaging learning experience.
Our business leadership accelerator program goes beyond traditional management coursework by building leadership skills through hands-on experiences. You’ll engage in simulations and case studies that teach you to lead under pressure, preparing you to step in to the workforce with confidence.
With applied business strategy, students engage in decision-making exercises that closely mimic the experience of an MBA. Unlike traditional programs that isolate business functions, we teach you how to integrate all areas of business, from finance and marketing to operations and strategy. This approach equips you with the ability to make high-level decisions that balance all aspects of business.
Rather than following the standard model of industry placements, Southern Cross University offers the Global Incubator, where students tackle cross-border business challenges. This innovative program allows you to gain international experience while solving real-world problems.
“Students shouldn't stay in one lane when it comes to their career. Our degree teaches them to work across teams and see the bigger picture in business. ”
Bachelor of Business FAQs
Traditional, linear career paths are being replaced by fast-moving, technology-driven roles shaped by artificial intelligence, sustainability, and digital transformation. Graduates now need broader, more adaptable skills to succeed in modern business environments.
Traditional business degrees often require students to choose a major early and study business functions in isolation. This can limit understanding of how real organisations operate, where marketing, finance, people management, technology, and strategy are deeply interconnected. Industry experience is also often delayed until the final year, reducing real-world readiness.
Southern Cross University has redesigned its Bachelor of Business from the ground up. Instead of traditional majors and electives, the program uses an integrated, industry-connected curriculum that reflects how business actually works. The degree is designed to prepare students not just to adapt to change, but to lead it.
The key difference is integration. Students gain a strong foundation across all major business disciplines, including:
- Marketing
- Accounting
- Human resources
- Entrepreneurship
- Artificial intelligence and analytics
- Strategy and decision-making
This approach avoids early over-specialisation and builds whole-of-business thinking.
Industry feedback consistently shows that employers value graduates who understand how all parts of a business work together. By removing traditional majors, the degree develops graduates who can collaborate across teams, contribute strategically, and make informed decisions in complex environments.
