Southern Cross University’s Orientation is underway this week, with a comprehensive online schedule of events and information to help new students familiarise themselves with academic life.

Students can access the online Orientation program through the FYI Module. Go to or plan your orientation schedule here.

Lismore and Gold Coast campuses remain closed until the end of this week, due to the ongoing flooding events and impacts in the regions.

All on-campus events, such as Orientation Week tours and Education Student Meet and Greet, have been cancelled this week, including at Coffs Harbour campus.

At this stage, 2022 classes are due to commence next week. Students and staff are encouraged to check their emails for further updates about whether Lismore campus will remain closed during the Week 1 of classes, starting 7 March, and to keep up to date with any details for online learning.

Week 1 classes will go ahead online if campuses remain closed.

At this stage, Coffs Harbour campus is open, while Gold Coast campus is expected to reopen on Monday 7 March.

Student Orientation & Induction Coordinator Penny Leonard said there may be some disruptions to live online orientation sessions this week, due to staff members being impacted by ongoing weather events.

“However, the suite of information available, including the innovative FYI Module, orientation activities and scheduled online social events, make for the best most comprehensive online orientation we’ve ever offered,” Ms Leonard said.

“Southern Cross is also looking to host campus tours for commencing students next week for campuses that are open, with details yet to be announced.”

Hold onto your donations of clothing and other goods

Southern Cross Lismore campus continues to operate as an evacuation centre with more than 800 people sheltering there.

While the generosity of the community is valued, we request no more donations at this time. Instead, hold onto those items for when they are needed in the coming days.
